Full control of the drying process

Artificial heat treatment of agricultural products is still the most reliable and most used method to ensure quality preservation even under long time storage.
Each drying process comprises three basic elements, the (wet) product, air and energy. Obtaining full control over air flow and air temperature as well as product flow is the exact and only way to manage any drying process, enabling product quality, capacity and economic rationality going hand in hand.

For all models and sizes there is free choice of 4 potential heating sources, hot air generators fired by oil or gas and heat exchangers for hot water or steam. Furthermore, hot air generators differs as “direct” or “indirect”, including the flue gas into the drying air or not. Direct heating is certainly close to 100 % utilization of the energy input – often used when drying grain for feedstuff. Indirect heating with oil or gas, when the flue gas is led to a chimney after adding some energy to the drying air, is recommended for all drying purposes regarding human consumption (flour mills), while indirect heating by means of steam or hot water mainly is recommended in plants where steam or hot water already exist for other purposes – like in oil mills or feed mills.The variable size of the cooling zone ensures a final product temperature for safe storage or suitable for the available storage facilities

Horizontal band dryers

Techmach’s horizontal band dryer is specially constructed to meet drying demands of different seeds and organic products (Grass and vegetable seeds, wood chips and saw dust etc).An air stream, optimally adjusted in temperature and volume to suit the actual product, is passing through a slowly moving steel belt, manufactured from perforated steel lamellas. Both the height of product layer and the belt speed are adjustable, enabling a perfect saturation of the exhaust air according to different drying processes and products

Horizontal band dryers are built in a modular system where the sections are arranged in a single row or in two or more layers, improving the mix of the product and uniformity of the final moist content.

As well as the continuous flow dryer, horizontal dryers can be heated in different ways by different fuels, direct or indirect.

Drum dryers

Drum Dryers High capacity, high efficiency and low cost technology for heat treatment to increase the nutritional value of feedstuff

Like Expanders, Extruders and Micronizers the Techmach “Dantoaster” Feed Processor is specially developed for heat treatment of free flowing, mainly organic granules.

The purpose of heat treatment is to improve the quality and nutritional value of a product. Adding a given amount of heat in a combination of high air temperatures and intensive infrared radiation over a given period will change the product physically, chemically and biologically.

The following processes are practically used:

1. Sterilization
Sterilization means reduction of naturally occurring toxins, diminishing of microorganisms, bacteria and insects. During sterilization the product temperature hits 100 – 110 °C, not reforming the kernel’s size but killing germination.

2. Toasting
Toasting means inactivation of some negative nutritive substances, like reducing Trypsin inhibitors activity in whole Soybeans. During toasting the product temperature hits 130 – 140 °C, heavily increasing the nutritional value of some products, so Soybeans, Peas, Rape seed, Lupines etc become excellent feedstuff.

3. Gelatinization
Gelatinization means to break down the structure in the starch of various products, making it more water-soluble, achieving easier access for digestive enzymes and improving the pellet production by reducing the risk for crumbling. Gelatinization needs a precise control of product temperature, swelling time and moist content. Depending on the product the product temperatures will vary between 60 and 90 °C and up to 120 + °C for some types of starch.

4. Protein protection
Protein protection means to prevent microbial decomposition of the protein in cattle paunch, resulting in loss of energy and high production of methane. Heat treatment up to product temperatures of 160 – 170 °C enables the protein to pass directly to the animal’s gut system where it is digested, resulting in better utilization og the protein obtained.

5. Drying
Drying of products with high and very high moist content is an increasing use of the “Dantoaster”. The HTST-process (High Temperature Short Time) with air temperatures of 700 – 1000 °C and process time from 1 to 10 minutes has an optimized energy consumption of 715 – 930 W/kg evaporation. This drying process demands the use of a suitable cooling unit to remove heat and vapor from the heat treated product.


Fans High effective dust separation

The dryer design incorporates the principal of air sucking through the grain putting the dryer body under negative pressure eliminating emission of grain dust and thermal loss from the column. The

Techmach Cyclofan ensures you a better separation than other dust separating fans with the same energy consumption. The Cyclofan is a combination of a ventilator and a high-effective centrifugal separator. It is very easy to install, it is space saving, and results from Biotechnological Institute shows that it has a dust separating efficiency of more than 98%. For minimizing the dust leak even more, Techmach has developed and patented the Techmach Super Cyclofan, the most effective dust separation ventilator. With its unusually high dust separating efficiency of more than 99% with the best energy utilisation, it gives a secure environmental advantage

The simplest form of mechanical dust separation is the Axifan. The Axifan has a large air output combined with an efficient dust separation of heavy dust grains with efficiency at almost 84%. The relatively low revolutions result in a lower noise level.
